Well my camera battery died. Story of my life. Bad news: I didn’t get footage of me eating a Scorpion in downtown Beijing but Good News: if I had gotten footage, it prolly would have taken me too long to edit it anyways so at least you’re getting a post decently soon, also MORE Good News: Meagan and James got a picture of it but Bad News: they haven’t posted it so Good News: You’ll never have to see it, because I’m pretty sure I looked unattractive. Surprisinglygood and more important News: The Scorpions were quite tasty. It’s the spices, not the texture.
So! Turns out, I’m a really independent person. I’m used to going where I want on my own time, getting stuff done, fending for myself....but in China that’s not always possible because my horrible sense of direction+the chinese vocabulary of a 5-month old (literally. sometimes I just grunt and make sounds that sound chinese) =...well, embarrassing at best. So,I’m often accompanied by a veteran. But now! I’m branching out! MAKING those Baby Steps, and doing things By Myself. Check it. So far I have...
-gone to the bank
-bought dragon fruit and something that looks like an eyeball at the market
-asked for a box at a restaurant (fat kid wants her gong bao ji ding--the new favorite dish)
-ordered ice cream
-gone grocery shopping
...yup. That’s pretty much it. Rejoice with me!
Steph, I'm reading through your blog, and I just love you! -Sam B.
